Kid's Yoga

Krassi was introduced to yoga as a child and it has made a tremendous difference in her life.  So upon her return from India in 2002 she started teaching children in Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Mountain View. Krassi’s kids yoga class is meant to provide a safe, non-competitive environment where children can explore their abilities, physical and mental. They discover new frontiers of what is possible and at the same time practice respecting their limitations. There is a lot of laughter and fun! There are lots of wild animal poses that challenge the body, as well as deep meditation and breathing that develop and calm the mind. Children are encouraged to express themselves freely, but also learn to go within and spend time in silence and stillness. They learn to listen to their body’s feedback and to respect it; to tune in and find out what feels right to them and act from that connection with the self, rather than succumb to peer and cultural pressure. Children learn that they cannot always control their environment, but they have some level of control over how they react to it.

Krassi hopes that her classes inspire her young students to maintain their flexibility and agility, both physical and mental, as they grow. By practicing presence and awareness children develop the ability to focus on the task at hand, as well as to go through the many changes that lie ahead without anxiety and fear.

Some words from our little Buddhas:

“Yoga has taught me that I can block annoying sounds
around me and choose not to listen to them”

“Yoga has helped me fall asleep faster”

“Through yoga I have become more forgiving”

“Stretching feels good”

“It feels good to be quiet”

"Even if I've had a hard day at school, I always feel great after I do yoga"

"My mom loves it when I do yoga - I am very peaceful for the rest of the day"
